Aleksiina Salmi graduated from Kaarisilta as a visual artist in 2016 and has already participated in many exhibitions. Her subjects stem from reality, but she deals with them by means of fantasy. Vibrant colors, rhythmic surface work and brave layouts are repeated in the works. Salmi paints mainly animal subjects, but combines symbolic elements with them. Dark clouds, blood, and a strong backlight can shape the mood of the works so that the fun and lightness seen at first glance remain apparent, with darker shades beneath the surface. Salmi collects topics from trips and stories, but what matters is her own imagination. Often, text is also created in the background of the works. Salmi herself has said that visual arts give her space to breathe even when life is very hard. Images allow her to visit different places when travelling is limited.

Art Studio: Ateljee Eivor
I work as a professional artist – painting, having exhibitions, artist presentations and keeping in touch with my network in the art field. I consider myself an eternal student. I am interested in learning and new perspectives in making visual arts, as well as working with children. I have held a few children’s workshops related to my own exhibitions.
